Whenever I venture back to Southern California to visit my grandfather I end up in the garment district at least once. On my most recent trip my best friend, Jen, came along with me. While browsing thru Michael Levine she found some fun fabric for me to sew a nice tote bag for her. I selected the Open City Tote pattern from Quilts Illustrated. (I love their patterns!) Tonight I got it finished and I hope she’ll love it!
It features quilted handles, several inside pockets and a nice sturdy bottom. This should be a great bag for everyday use. See more pictures of Jen’s Open City Tote»
Before tackling Jen’s bag I worked on the “You Go Girl” bag from Tammy Tadd Designs. The bag is cute, but the pattern was difficult to follow. I found myself reading, re-reading, uttering a confused, “huh?” out loud and then reading the step again. I am so glad this one is done! And since this is one of the projects my Mom had purchased for me several years ago, I am certain she was smiling from heaven as I finished it… Finally!
