May 2014 Make it Sew – Iron Caddy

Have you always wanted to learn to sew? Or maybe you know how to sew but want a group to sew with. At Make It Sew we will have fun creating useful items with fabric, thread and a sewing machine.

Due to space limitations for this day, we will be capping this Meetup at 15 people.  Please RSVP below.  There will be a wait list, so please let us know if you will be unable to make it.

Members and non-members welcome!

All levels are welcome and we will work on a variety of projects over time. Sometimes we will use store bought patterns and sometimes we won’t.

By popular demand, the project will be the caddy pad.

Don’t need an iron caddy? This also makes a great diaper carrier and changing pad or lunch pail and placemat.

What to bring:

Caddy Pad from Sisters’ Common Thread  – The Cotton Cupboard in Lakeway, TX will have the pattern in stock next week. If you haven’t been there yet it is my favorite quilt shop.

(Copyright on this pattern does not allow me to share mine with you so everyone will need to get one. The good news is the pattern comes with the heat resistant ironing board fabric to make your first one.)

• Requirements are located on the back of the pattern.

Other Supplies:

• Sewing machine and manual

• Thread

• Rotary Cutter, Ruler for Rotary Cutter and Mat (Mat is optional as there are mats at TechShop)

• Basic Sewing Kit
